Sparkz Privacy Policy
Effective date:
1. Scope
This policy explains how Caleb Wolin ("Sparkz," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and retains information when you use the Sparkz iOS app and related services. Sparkz is designed for couples, so content you add to a shared couple space is ordinarily visible to your paired partner.
2. Information we collect
- Account and profile information: Firebase user ID, phone number, first name, account creation date, profile or couple photo, onboarding answers, and pairing status.
- Relationship and shared content: your partner connection, invite information, bucket-list items, folders, dates, notes, links, answers, drawings, game activity and saves, shared check-ins, and related timestamps.
- Photos and media: photos you choose from your library or capture in Sparkz, including completion, couple, check-in, drawing, and game-related images.
- Location: precise coordinates, place names, and addresses that you choose to add to an item. Map providers may also process approximate or precise device location when you grant location permission and use map features.
- Purchases: product, trial, subscription, purchase, expiration, and entitlement status. Apple processes payment details; Sparkz does not receive your full payment-card information.
- Usage and diagnostics: app launches, screens and features used, taps and product interactions, session information, device and operating-system information, IP-derived information, performance data, crash reports, and diagnostic logs.
- Device and notification information: app installation identifiers, push-notification tokens, notification preferences, and device identifiers used to deliver and measure the service.
- Advertising information: when you authorize tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, Meta may receive an advertising identifier and product-interaction events for advertising measurement. Sparkz does not use your phone number or contact information for cross-app tracking.
- Support communications: information you include when you contact us.
3. How we use information
We use information to authenticate accounts; pair partners; store, synchronize, and display shared content; provide maps, games, imports, notifications, subscriptions, and customer support; maintain security and prevent abuse; diagnose crashes and performance issues; understand and improve product usage; administer trials and entitlements; comply with law; and, only when permitted, measure advertising.
4. When information is shared
We share shared-space content with the partner you pair with. We also disclose information to service providers only as needed for their services:
- Google Firebase for authentication, databases, file storage, app integrity, messaging, analytics, and crash reporting.
- RevenueCat for purchases, trials, and subscription entitlements.
- Mixpanel for linked product analytics.
- Meta for app-event analytics and, when authorized, advertising measurement.
- Mapbox for map, place, and location features.
- Apple for App Store purchases, device services, and platform features.
- Google reCAPTCHA for fraud and abuse prevention during authentication.
We may also disclose information when required by law; to protect users, Sparkz, or others; to investigate fraud or security issues; or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, or transfer of the service, subject to appropriate safeguards. We do not sell personal information for money.
5. Tracking and your choices
You can deny or later change tracking permission in iOS Settings. You can manage location, photos, camera, and notification permissions in iOS Settings. Denying a permission may limit the corresponding feature. You can manage or cancel an Apple subscription in your Apple Account subscription settings.
6. Retention and account deletion
We retain account information while your account is active and retain service records as reasonably needed for security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and operation of the service. Some provider or backup copies may persist for a limited period before deletion or de-identification.
You can schedule account deletion in Sparkz under Settings → Delete Account. Deletion becomes eligible seven days after the request. During that window, no account or couple data is deleted, and you can sign in and choose Cancel Deletion. Deleting Sparkz does not cancel an Apple subscription.
After the cancellation window, we delete your Firebase Authentication account and your individual Sparkz user record, including its notification and device records. If your former partner remains, we remove you from the couple, unpair the remaining partner, and retain the old shared couple content and media as an inaccessible archive. It is not made available to a future partner. When the final member of that archive deletes, we delete the archived couple record, its subcollections, and associated stored media. Deletion from RevenueCat and Mixpanel is handled as processor cleanup, with a target of completing the overall request within 30 days.
For more detail, see Account Deletion and Privacy Choices.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No network transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
Sparkz is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it as appropriate.
9. International processing
Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries where privacy laws may differ from those where you live.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Sparkz changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or by another appropriate method.
